ABOUT
CareAccess is a 501(c)3 organization established in 1998 to develop affordable technology solutions for health and human services agencies. It was founded by Sourcewise, the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) in Santa Clara County.
In 2000, after years of discussions and research on best-of-breed solutions, CareAccess created a secure hosting platform for Q Continuum that was used by AAAs.
In the next 18 years, CareAccess partnered with other software developers to support solutions for Information and Awareness (I&A), Adult Protective Services (APS), Multipurpose Senior Services Program (MSSP) and In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Public Authority. The organization supported and trained agency staff and their providers/grantees in using these software tools.
CareAccess’ software support process and training provided rich learning opportunities. As a grant-driven endeavor, it emphasized the perspective of agencies, their program requirements and software users. The organization was a conduit between agencies and the software developers, especially when there were mandated changes to state and federal reporting.
Over the years, CareAccess has accumulated valuable knowledge in interacting with those who work in AAAs, MSSP, and IHSS Public Authorities. The involvement in software development has also made it deeply familiar with usability issues and preferences. The organization is putting its vast wealth of information and experiences to good use by being a resource platform for staff and program managers.
Today, CareAccess focuses on serving as a source of information and tools and a reference for best practices. With around two decades of expertise and in-depth understanding of aging programs, CareAccess offers materials useful to program managers, planners, intake coordinators, social workers, case managers, and other AAA staff.
